The Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers (AAMT), who partner with the University of South Australia to deliver the [xe] program, has been awarded a $6.4 million contract – in partnership with the Australian Academy of Science – to develop and promote comprehensive new maths resources for school students and teachers, from Foundation to Year 10.
The initiative is part of the Australian government’s Industry Innovation and Competitiveness Agenda announced last year and the first resources developed under the project – the Mathematics by Inquiry initiative – will be available in late 2016.
The President of AAMT, Dr Mary Coupland said:
“AAMT is very pleased to be part of this landmark partnership with the Academy. The strength of this project will be its direct involvement with the profession – there are many excellent teachers of mathematics whose engaging innovations in teaching will be recognised and shared through AAMT’s extensive national networks.”
