[xe] schools wanted

to improve Indigenous student achievement in mathematics and numeracy education.

This objective of the [xe] project for schools is led by the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers (AAMT).

The focus of the project is to help increase the numbers of Indigenous students  succeeding with the ‘higher level’ mathematics subjects in years 11 and 12. These subjects are the gateways to further study and careers in STEM, so it is vital we increase levels of participation by Indigenous young people.

The AAMT is keen to hear about secondary schools – or groups of schools – in metropolitan or regional locations who are are having some success in this area and/or wish to take their thinking and work further. AAMT will provide support including connections with like-minded schools and teachers, access to people with expertise and some funding for teacher release .
